Rated 4 star because I haven't had to use it yet...touch wood. But it is exactly as described online.
Nice quality inflator head.
The Portland Design CO2 Inflator works great. I really like that it has an adjustable air release valve. You can slowly fill the tire with a lot of control. Just a great product.
Finally had to use this in anger the weekend and I was pleasantly surprised. More controllable than I had thought it would be. THe valve is smooth and you will be able to let in just a little or a lot with ease. Stores in a tiny space. My fizik bag easily holds this, two cylinders (16grams), a tube, multitool, and spoke wrench. even if I get picky I cant find any issue with this at all.
I agree with the other reviewers, this is a great inflator. Having helped friends with inferior products, this one is far superior. Maybe a little expensive, but buy the best and be done with it.
We try to carry one of these in each of our bikes under saddle bag along with a CO2 cylinder so we don't have to transfer this stuff bike to bike when we switch to a different ride.
I like the way this one feels and operates. don't think you will lose a cylinder of CO2 to the air with this one.
This product works great so far. I (knock on wood) have only used it a couple of times. The adjustable pressure valve makes it easy to put the C02 into the tube. It is mostly metal, so I anticipate it lasting.
Great tool, would purchase another one simple and easy to use
I picked up this inflator in the hopes of reducing space in my already overloaded seat bag. It is small but better yet is that it really does a nice job. I like that it has a dial you can spin to openclose the cartridge. Feels much better built than the cheesy yellow inflator that I used to drag along.
I received two back to back flat tires in the beginning of an 75 mile ride to Piermont and back earlier this week. This tool definitely came in handy. It is compact and easily fits in a saddle pouch or jersey pocket. It is made of quality materials and I love the fact that you can vary how much CO2 is being released via the vale. The changed tires were inflated in seconds and I was on my may. Funny enough, one of my riding buddies suffered a flat on the way back (on the same trip). It was my first time using the tool and I had the opportunity to use it 3 times in one day. All in all, well worth the money.
Disclaimer haven't actually had occasion to use it yet, but how can you not be impressed with the product?! Compact, bullet-proof(comment about adjustment knob retaining screw noted and notwithstanding), elegantly simple. Not that I want a flat, but I'm eager to use it!
The Portland Design CO2 Inflator works very well. The CO2 canisters for this devise thread into it on one end and it has an adjustable air release valve. I really like that you can slowly fill the tire with a lot of control. The Inflator itself is very small and light and easy to carry. Just a great product.
Efficient, small and easy to use.
This all-metal inflator looks very durable, and worked very well. Tires measured 160 PSI after use. Use one catridge for each empty tire. This unit is also great for topping off tires because the unit will shut off completely after use and unused CO2 will not leak out.
Sealed easily to presta valve stems.
Caution - the unit will freeze your hand if you don't use the leather sleeve!
Only problem was that the metal knob was loose when shipped. The knob is held on with a allen-head bolt that had was not tightened in the factory. Would have gotten five stars if the knob had been properly attached. Also, no instructions!
See Portland Designs web page for a video demonstration.
