Product Review: Mask Nirvana Helmet
As a long-time fan of the Proton helmet, I had high expectations when I decided to try the Nirvana for my aero needsand it did not disappoint. From the moment I put it on, I was impressed by the level of comfort. The padding feels premium and molds to your head perfectly, making it ideal for long rides.
One of my favorite features is the ratcheting system. Its intuitive, precise, and allows for easy adjustments on the go. Whether Im on a steep climb or pushing hard on a flat stretch, the helmet stays securely in place without any discomfort.
When it comes to performance, the Nirvana truly shines. It feels fastreally fast. The aerodynamic design is noticeable, especially in high-speed scenarios, where every watt saved counts. Ive already shaved some time off my personal bests, and I credit a lot of that to this helmet.
Overall, the Kask Nirvana helmet is a worthy upgrade for anyone looking for speed, comfort, and functionality. If you love the Proton, youll be just as thrilled with the Nirvana. Highly recommended!
Synthe MIPS II fit is very good for my rounder head. The straps exit in a good location, adjustability is decent -no issue with slipping when riding over rough patches.
The aesthetic of the helmet profile is traditional and has a wider shape from a front-on view. Those with a narrow facial profile might not like the greater mushroom-top look.
The helmet is not the lightest MIPS available, but it doesn't constantly remind my that my 10yr old non-MIPS LG X-lite one was 45gm lighter.
This is my second Giro helmet, and a step-up from the first. Size is L for a head measurement of 23.25". Fits well, and internal MIPS harness is easily adjustable, with plenty of adjustment up or down. Have used the helmet in transitional fall temps, but not yet on very hot (testing the cooling vents) or very cold (with thicker skull caps) weather rides. There appears to be enough adjustment available for a good fit with both light and winter head coverings. My only complaint: I'd like the option of a minimal, removable visor for sunny days, which my lower-priced helmet had. Without the included visor, I've added a visored cycling cap to my kit. The helmet value came from purchasing this helmet on sale.
I've been using a dark grey POC Ventral for the last few years. It's been a great helmet, but got a little hot during the long summer endurance races I would ride. I've never owned a MET helmet before, but was inspired by Tadej's dominant performance this year and decided to imitate! (I know, I know - fanboy stuff). I got it in white this time to try and keep my head cool on hot summer rides. This helmet vents great and while quite a bit more compact than the POC (external dimensions), it feels great and so far, I love it. Catch it on sale and I think it's a great value!
