Wanted to use the the Junction A bar end for a new build and did not want to mount one under the stem, primarily for a cleaner look and the fact my stem was custom painted. This split wire does what it's advertised to to do and does it perfectly. Since the bar end junction box has only 2 ports, the Y-split was needed in order to keep everything hidden.
Do yourself a favor, as I learned the hard way(fault of my own), and get the larger size, as the medium wasn't long enough for my application and internal bar routing. Oh....and get the little Shimano tool for connecting and disconnecting the E-tube wires. Worth every penny!
Shimano Di2 EW-SD50 E-Tube Wires; YOU NEED about 6 or 7 various lengths. All the components clip together:
It helps to understand the lengths you require, longer is better, if you have room to stuff extra in down-tube. The line through your handlebars may be longer.
Counted 6 wires: In the SEAT TUBE, Battery-WIRE-wireless transmitter-WIRE-Junction Box- Wire-Rear Derailleur. Same Junction Box -WIRE-Plug in device-WIRE-R Shifter- Wire- L Shifter
YES, To connect SHIFTERS: I drilled 2 exit holes (near the plug end) in my carbon handle bars, maybe 8cm from end (Mad Man) or consider other handle bars.
Cant do synchro shift without this battery, and its worth the upgrade just to get synchro shift. I'm not a lazy shifter but it is convenient in a race to not have to think about the gearingcross chaining as you meet hills. Just shift!
