Its exactly what youd expect from Shimano. The spd pedal holds up to all sorts of abuse.
the 8100 SPD pedals perform well, release consistently & shed mud/crud - and yet somehow they can take rock hits, corners and still keep working
Shimano XT pedals are the best deal for your money and they last forever. Don't waste your money on xtr.
excellent pedal, I used it on my PRO GR Lynskey Gravel Bike
Arguably not worth the price bump from the 540 or even 520 spd pedals, but when theyre on sale, theyre a no brainer. Bought my second pair with my first pair being 4 years old and still solid, being put on my sons bike. If paying full price, go for the 540 or 520s, but if on sale, grab the XTs.
Bought these for my new gravel bike. I was curious if I would see any difference from the PD-M540 I usually use and am quite satisfied with. They perform very well as expected but can't say I notice any improvement over the 540s. If you're a weight freak, go ahead and spend the extra $, you won't be disappointed. I don't do the type of riding where I could tell if there is enhanced mud shedding.
bought these for my new gravel bike and going from road pedals to gravel I knew I wanted a double sided clip. I watch a lot of youtube cyclist and gravel pro's and notice these pedals on their bikes, and these were not promoted as a paid endorsement- that tells me they just work well- and they do. I never need to look down when clipping in and double sided is so functional. I have about 350 miles on them now and have never have a problem with mud or dirt.
I have 2 other sets on different bikes and all work amazingly well easy to clip in & out plus the foot platform seems larger with good stability very happy with the purchase
Smooth operation on my gravel race bike. Easy to clip in and out and only nominally heavier than the XTR version. No experience with mud here in the high desert of New Mexico but work fine in our dusty conditions. Highly recommend.
Using on my gravel bike with no complaints. Engages easily now with my gravel shoes (was a little tricky using an SPD cleat on a road shoe).
tough, versatile, easy to maintain
use for MTB and cyclocross
Love these pedals I currently have them on a fat bike, two mountain bikes, and my cyclocross bike
Can't ever really go wrong with Shimano. Good pedal for the price, of course not as light as XTR but a definite upgrade for anyone looking for a solid XC pedal. Have had no issues with clipping in or out, they work great.
Great MTB pedal! Love Shimano products high quality, durable, reliable
The xt pedals have been my choice since I started clipping in. I use them on my mtb and gravel bike. Great value, very durable and easy to maintain. I actually gifted my old set to my NEPHEW for his first set. This new set is almost identical to all my others.
Upgraded from a lower level Shimano MTB/gravel pedal for my gravel bike. Put several hundred miles on these for gravel rides, and they work great. Seem very well made.
I've been riding road bikes for the last 40 years and have been clipped in one way or another. I have used toe clips and straps, one-sided clipless pedals and, for the last 10 years, two-sided pedals. I'm fairly new to mountain biking, but couldn't imagine not being clipped in. I chose these XT pedals after reading many reviews and talking to many friends that have ridden mountain bikes for a long time. I like the two-sided entry. The pedals are easy to engage, provide a solid connection to the bike, and stay fairly clean of dirt and debris. Great pedals!
Love Shimano products, pedals and shoes for my road and gravel bikes. Solid performance and no issues... They last and re worth every dime....
This is the pedal I use on all my bikes - Mountain, gravel and fat bike. Flawless. Easy to get in an out. Not much weight difference from the more expensive model.
I have been using these pedals for 2 years and race and train with them on my CX and fat bikes. These are solid and reliable. For racing they clear muddirt very well. For riding in the snow recommend spraying the cleats and pedals with cooking oil to prevent the snow from sticking.
