I've put about 300 miles on mine, mostly commuting. One gravel ride. I got 700x35. No flats, haven't had to ride them in the rain yet.
I have only had it mounted for a little over a week, too early to tell if it will prevent the flats I was getting with my old tire. I am impressed with the quality of construction of the Schwalbe tire. One thing I can say is that I had no problems whatsoever in mounting it on the rim. It went on quite easily.
I've read a lot of reviews about how hard this tire is to mount. I've had the exact opposite experience. The first tire was easy, and the second one mounted with out the use of a single tool!
Can't speak for the rest, as I just mounted these.
700 x 38 tires are a super smooth ride.
I bought a pair of 32 mms on sale and couldn't be happier. They're riding so much smoother, and I feel much more comfortable during my commute. I will definitely buy again in the future.
No problems yet. Haven't done a lot of riding on them yet, but seem like they will be great for when I'm commuting more.
These tires have lived up to their claims so far. I'm very impressed.
This is my second time buying this tire (only had to buy a new one because my wheel was stolen). Road on them daily for a year and never had a flat!
I bought this tire for use on my road bike during the wet season in Seattle. Very impressed with the quality of the tire and the performance on wet roads. They are heavier than normal tires , but for me it's a good trade-off for the performance.
Clunky heavy tire, but did the job against New Mexico goatheads. Not exactly a supple casing, so hard to mount.
Tire has performed awesome 600 miles and not one flat rode everything from pavement to bike trail in S Dakota very happy once you get past the weight of the tire the rest is good
A perfect commuter tire. A little pricey, but as they say, you get what you pay for! and this is well worth it. I haven't had a flat in months.
I mounted two of these on my commuter . Both tires had an eighth on an inch run out. I put the old tires back on and will return them. I think they're junk!
Casey very honest helpful and would buy again
This tire rides harder than previous Cont. Gatorskins and was tough to mount because of the very stiff side walls. I dread the possibility of trying to change a flat on the road but maybe the tire will be softer with use. But no flats should occur, right?
Experience for me is the best teacher. And what did I learn on my 3446-mile solo bike ride this summer (2013) from the Pacific Coast of Oregon to my hometown of Kingston Ontario? Buy the best equipment you can afford, and that Schwalbe Marathon Ultra Plus 700cc tires easily qualify as the best. Quite simply after purchasing a pair and installing them in North Dakota, I cycled the rest of the way home without a flat or problem, over road conditions that were more often than not, poor or worse.
As a solo cyclist touring in remote locations I could not afford to be dealing with tire issues and trying to source suitable replacements. My Schwalbe tires gave me the peace of mind necessary to keep rolling day in and day out, and enjoy my trip. Not only would I recommend these tires to anyone thinking of touring with their bike, I would buy those same tires again should the need ever arise. But after cycling on my Schwalbes from North Dakota to Kingston, they hardly look used, so I suspect it will be a long time before they need replacement. Those tires went the distance for me this summer.
I've been riding these tires hard as hell for over a month now and I haven't had a flat yet, surprisingly so for the terrain of the city streets. It's goat head city out here, with busted glass, road debris, gravel spills, and the occasional rampant hardware in the bike lanes. These are still at full tread, spite the constant controlled slides and heavy urban abuse. All else aside they are a super comfy ride.
I think these are the toughest tires out there. I've toured thousands of miles on pretty rough roads with a loaded bike and no flats.
I commute to and from work daily a total of 25 miles. I was using tire liners with anther tire brand for a few years but kept getting flats anyway. Since installing the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires, the number of flat tires has been dramatically reduced (I went for 2 years recently with just one). I would not hesitate to buy these tires again. Great tire for commuting andor touring!
I commute on these tires along a busy highway with lots of bits of glass and junk on the shoulder. With other tires I was getting a flat at least every other week. I have ridden on these for the past few years and have only had one flat. Since I am out of practice changing flats it now takes me a little longer when it happens. I also use these tires for touring and recently rode the Oregon coast without any problems. In spite of being very flat resistant they are also a comfortable, grippy tire that rolls along quite nicely
