This jacket is a lot simpler than a similar PI jacket I bought 10 years ago. No pockets, no venting, not very thick. But, I really like how it rolls up and easily fits in my jersey pockets. It is now my go-to "just in case" extra layer. Unlike some pull-over jerseys I have, no need to take my helmet off to get this jacket on or off. And the high-visibility yellow is great.
I have not yet tried this in the rain to see how water proof it is. My 10 year old PI jacket is great in this regard.
I know that Pearl Izumi is proud of their products. I've bought some for my girlfriend and they seemed good. This one is for me. First, I was surprised how thin and seemingly insignificant this jacket is, especially for its price. But a soon as I tried it on, I appreciated the PI design and fit. I could tell that the people who designed this jacket have some biking experience.
After a couple of trail rides, I found out that this jacket is exactly what I wanted. Comfortable and functional. Blocks the wind very well, yet I don't feel like I'm wearing a plastic bag. Minimalistic features are perfect. There are no pockets which is fine with me because I hate shirt pockets for biking. I'm glad that I bought one size larger than normal so that I have flexibility on what can I can wear beneath.
I really like the jacket, it cuts the wind well on the 50 degree weather I'm getting now. The quality looks good, but why no pocket, anywhere? Inside, front or back should have a pocket so I don't need one on my pants or shirt. I usually have a key or phone that needs to go somewhere, and I prefer to not have it on my thigh.
Prefer this convertible jacket over the one with removable sleeves. Love the hi-viz yellow color. Not too baggy like some jackets, my chest is 46" and size XL fits great. Only improvement would be a rear pocket. Like it so much I bought one for my 13 year old son.
Went out for a 100K jaunt the other day and wore a thermal long sleeve jersey along with a vest. I thought I'd carry this barrier jacket just in case. I'm so glad I did, cause after about 30 miles of climbing, the winds started to pick up and had me freezing in my own sweat. I unrolled this jacket from my back pocket and was provided instant protection from the windy elements. It rolls into such a small size, it's worth carrying for extra protection
Sizing is accurate. Decent light jacket. Pleased enough with the first one purchased that I ordered a second one. Wrist closures are narrow, but roomy otherwise. Could use a pocket. Zipper seems smooth and durable.
I recently bought this with some hesitation, but quickly changed my mind. This jacket is true to form, visible from a distance, and very comfortable.
Great wind and light rain jacket. Zipper works well with one hand. Heavy rain will eventually soak through after a couple hours but a good jacket for most conditions. Packs well into pocket. A zippered pocket would be a nice addition but overall very pleased with purchase.
Very lightweight and stows easily. It has proven to be effective against light rain, and another useful layer against cold and wind.
Replaced my 20-year-old Pearl Izumi jacket with this one. This jacket is well made and lightweight, easily rolled up and stowed in my jersey pocket. Water repellent. Not a real winter jacket, more of a wind breaker.
Perfect for starting out on chilly mornings, then easily wraps around waist when it warms up and no longer needed. "Screaming Yellow" offers super visibility
The fit is actually very nice - Mens's M and I'm 5'8" 135#. Could be a little thicker in material with pockets
