We use these pannier for shopping commuting and exploring the Pacific NW on our bikes. This summer they were used in Washington, Oregon and BC on a bike trip by rod and ferries across the Puget Sound.
We are completely satisfied with the way they help out rain and dust. Great product!
These panniers are very well built. The are waterproof, visable and easy to take on and off the back rack. The bags come with a carry strap but I have not used that yet. Typically, they just stay on the bike.
I can fit my small briefcase with a laptop inside. There is a side pocket and a zippered side pocket for your id and other small things. I simply put my briefcase in the bag and that's it. If I need to bring more stuff to work I put the second pannier on and fill it.
I would buy this again
I commute via bike and these bags are just what I was looking for. Stylish, lightweight, waterproof and FUNCTIONAL. The attachment mechanism is sturdy and keeps the bags from rattling around. The mechanism is also easy to use and not cumbersome and clunky like others I've tried. The roll top closure is very conducive to packing efficiently. The reflectors are a great safety feature.
I use this product mainly for tranportation to and from my office or the super market. Very convenient and easy to hook up on your bike. It is water proof, accomodates most the things needed for the day when I am on a bike trail with my family. An excelent way to bring your things with you. Good quality product and at the same time looks good on your bike. I like every thing about this product.
From my observations it seems that are the standard commuter panniers in the soggy city of Portland, and for good reason. They're durable, waterproof (I've not had a leak in 3 months of commutingrunning errands with them), large enough for the things that come up in life, and look nice to boot. They're super adjustable as far as getting them to fit on your bike rack, and I like that I could adjust them backwards so they clear my big feet (even with a long touring bike my heels still kick panniers). The provided shoulder straps are great if you regularly run with them into stores or have a long walk (or the bike - public transportation - bike type commute). Worth the expense if you're serious about transporting your things.
I decided on getting the back rollers so that It would be easier to haul the 30 pounds of dog food that I have to pick up every two weeks or so (We have a great dane). I realize that the bag of food does not quite fit in one, but I can easily use a garbage bag liner in the bags and separate the food into both bags. Then, conveniently and easily detach the bags and pour the food into her big container. These bags are great because they are super easy to clean, have a very vibrant color (so you can be seen), as well as a very easy roll top that is just shy of holding a 17 baking pan (the clip attaches but the bag does not roll shut). If you are looking for a pair of Panniers, this is a great product that can hold a lot of groceries, clothes, or whatever else you might need to haul along!
