A good tire for road bikers.
Rode a set of Michelin Pro 3's to the threads last season and never a flat. The Pro 4's seem even better. Good grip on wet roads and pretty durable, lots of goatheads and road debris around here and have been pretty satisfied so far, knock on wood.
Great tires. I have tried them all. They beat out Vittorio, Vredestein, Continental and even Bontrager for wear, weight and most especially for flat protection. The rough mountain roads I ride are full of glass, rocks and destroyed car parts and I average one flat every six months or so. No other tire can compete!
I bought these after wearing through a set of Lithions. Seem to be very grippy and provide a nice smooth ride. White-wall tires on my white rims look really good as a bonus.
I only have a 2000 Km on them without any flats and any incidents they hold the road well wet or dry
I moved to these tires from a set of Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Slicks that I had worn down to the cords. My only complaint is that they are far more difficult to mount than the Vittorias. I had to resort to levers to get the second bead over the rim after dropping the tube in. After only one ride the difference is remarkable! The bike turns in much more sharply and the ride is much less harsh (we're on concrete out here). If the wear life is as long as the Vittorias they replaced then I'll be a convert!
Excellent light weight performance tire. The rear will last 1200-1500 mi. Grip is good and casing is supple. Large range of inflation pressure so performance can be tailored to meet use. I've used every major brand out there but this tire has a balance of characteristics that make it a great all around performer. As usual price is high but performance is also high.
great traction. excellent handling. good mileage.
I have been using some form of Michelin Pro tires for almost 10 years. These tires are fast and grip well. I've barreled down the local 7% grade mountain at 60 mph and have never felt uncomfortable. The wear is about what I would expect from a tire like this in the conditions I ride in (hot dry desert). With summertime temp is the 110 range, these do dry up and start to crack.
The downside is these tires are not thorn or glass resistant. After about 180 miles, I hit some glass and it left a decent sized cut in the tread. I super-glued it down and glued a patch inside and will ride them for another few thousand miles just like the last time this happened.
Conclusion These are great tires for race day but not the best for everyday training. If you train on them you should be prepared to be upset when you trash an expensive tire, it will happen sooner or later.
I have used Michelin tires on all ofmy bikes for a substantial period of time and have always had good luck with them. This latest version is no different, great overall and a great ride. To date I have no issues with flats, cracks in the tires etc. I can highly recommend.
I like the way this tire wears and sticks to the road
Not the best rain tire but it is a smooth ride, light and durable.
Great rolling resistance, a step up from the pro 3...
Bought two pairs-one for my bike and one for my wife's bike. Tires roll smooth, corner well and seem tougher than nails. A great value.
Replaced well worn Pro3's (down to the threads on the rear) and took the new 4's for a 600 mile jaunt between Nice, FR and Lucca, IT which took in most every darn mountain along the way, plus the climbs and descents in and out of the Cinque Terre villages. To me they felt and handled every bit the same as the Pro3's I have been using for a decade or so. I always considered them the very best when my neck was on the line and so i now do the Pro4's. No flats along the way!
Have just started riding with this tire and so far everything is fine. I have not ridden yet on slippery roades so don't know how they handle on wet roads but on dry roads so far everything is great.
I replaced my Pro3s at 2k mi with the Pro4s. I went from a 25cm to 23cm and expected the ride to get stiffer. It didn't! It's hard to state that these 'ride smooth' when referring to a skinny tire running 95 PSI, but they do.
I rode 1200 hard miles on a set of these this past summer. I had two flats-one caused by a small nail and the second was a shard of glass that regrettably ruined the rear tire. Without the road damage I am convinced that the tire would have lasted another 1,200 miles. I replaced the rear tire with a new Pro4 and rode Cycle Oregon (450 miles) in September. I really like these tires! They handle very well, are tough and quite light. I have run Continental Grand Prix 4000's in the past and I am convinced that the Michelins handle as well, have fewer issues and last longer. I highly recommend them.
No complaints here
I road bike 800-1000 miles a month and feel that these tires are as good as they get. Here in San Luis Obispo county there are some good roads and some bad road, but the wear is quite good for what I am using.
