The tire mounts up easily, corners very well, and feels fast. I like the profile-the 23mm is just a slight bit narrower than typical 23mm tires. Seems a slight bit taller too. More attractive than the previous Pro 2 and Pro 3 tires. Really great looking and riding tire. I have had not flats and the tires seem to be wearing well-I have about 500 miles on them.
On my Giant Defy 1 road bike. Great tire and great service.
I'm a road cyclist who loves to go fast on the flats, descents, and (when I can muster it) up the hills. I like these tires because they're smooth rolling, grippy, and puncture-resistant, which means I can worry about riding not flats when riding all over the Willamette Valley. I've been a huge fan of Michelin's road tires for several years and this is one of its best.
Great service great tires
The Pro4 Service Course is my event tire. I train on conti 4000's, but I have to give the edge to the Michelin's in speed. The ride quality is pretty good - especially mounted on my wider DA rims. I'm able to run them at 95-100 lbs to smoothe out rougher pavement. The conti's still win on the durability front. If you want a fast, great handling tire that has better durability than Vittoria, this is it.
good stuff
Used for training rides and the Santa Fe Century. Tires run smooth and quiet with good cornering. If stickers are an issue, tire liners and/or tube liquid is a good idea..
After deciding to buy the Zipp 404 Carbon Clincher wheel, I needed to shop for a tire. Being relatively new to road cycling I had no previous first hand experience with any tire brand (except for the tires that accompanied the bike). I decided not to go cheap and not to go over the top with some exotic make or model. Realizing how much I love the Michelin Sport tires on my BMW, I decided to stick with the Michelin brand. Fortunately these tires come in several colors, and the red one matched my Specialized Roubaix beautifully.
I have since done high speed descents from 4000 feet along curvy roads with relative ease. The tires grip well and provide low rolling resistance. They have even been used in light rain, but during an uphill stretch which is not as demanding as a high speed descent. But the tires maintained a solid and confident grip.
In the future I may be able to compare them against other highly regarded makes and models, but for now I find nothing lacking in them at all. They also happen to be perfectly color coordinated with the red firecrest emblem on the Zipps and the redblack paint scheme of the bike.
Avid road cyclist. Used in dry conditions on county and back roads.
Provides a very comfortable ride, good (low) rolling resistance on descents. Feels secure when cornering. One rear flat after almost 2,000 miles - I simply patched the tube, as I did not find any damage or puncture through the tire, and resumed riding the tire without difficulty. When available on sale, represents very good value.
I have ridden Continental, Vittoria, and Specialized tires in recent years. The Michelin Pro 4 Service Course is my favorite.
Fred EB
Love these tires. Have been riding with them for years. Outstanding feel and tackiness on descents. Wouldn't use anything else. Perhaps prone to a bit more flats.
I have ridden on Michelins for years. The pro4 is a huge improvement over the pro3. The tire seems much more durable than the 3 and also feels incredibly grippy in the corners. As tested on the twisty descent of Mt. Diablo. Also, with all the colors to choose from, its some pretty cool bling to spice up your bike's looks.
Use these as everyday riding tires and could not be happier. If there is a down side I've had one flat so maybe the puncture resistance of the carcass is a bit weak, but for how light the tires are it's to be expected in my opinion.
I was using Vittoria Open Corsa CX III Clincher Tires that were fast but did not hold up well, every time I hit a small rock or anything it seemed like they cut and had many flats. Went through two sets of these tires very fast. Went to Michelin Pro4 Course tire a few months ago maybe have 400 miles on them no cuts or flats and they roll very nice. Happy so far, go Michelin...
I've put a few hundred miles on these this so far and I am very happy with the road feel and traction I have since I ride a lot of varying terrain (averaging 40 mi) and like the added confidence these provide on the descents. Overall mileage unknown but a great value so far.
I am a recreational, endurance road cyclist. I log between 100 and 200 miles per week on my bike. I find that the Michelin Pro Series tires wear well and hold up to the punishment of our North Carolina back country roads. They also look sharp on my bike!
Bought a pair of the pro 4 tires for training in some seriously steep hills in order to be ready for a gran Fondo involving over 16,000 vertical feet of climbing. These tires have given me a great deal of confidence on the descents and cornering at high speed. They have a very supple ride at full pressure. As for mileage I can't say as I only have about 500 miles on the pair. So far so good. No flats and they seem to be wearing it a reasonable rate. I'll be using them for the gran Fondo for sure.
I use these tires for both everyday training and racing. They are excellent race tires - they seem to roll as fast as any other clincher I've used before and they are plenty light. As training tires I give them a lower rating. They are not as durable as other race level clincher tires I've used, specifically Continental 4000 and Vittoria. I have had sidewall cuts in two of them this season alone, forcing me to throw out both tires long before tread life required it (once in a race, once training). Overall, I love the tires and I am willing to risk their longevity in order to have them on my bike for all occasions.
This is a step up from the Pro 3 which was an excellent tire. I have been running 85-90 PSI on wider rims like HED Jet 4 (i am 162lbs), my carbon frame rides like a Cadillac but handles like an F1 - try it, your butt will thank you. On the Pro 3's I normally got about 2400 miles on the rears with 1 or 2 flats at most, riding crappy roads, glass, winter etc. The 4's feel even smoother and are holding up just as well.
Awesome traction wet or dry.
25mm tires provides better handling and comfort since you can run lower tire pressure than 23mm.
Very durable.
Make sure you have enough clearance with your brake calipers before ordering 25mm. It might rub on certain ones.
The Michelin Pro4 Service Course tires offer a good balance between speed, tire wear, and cost.
