I use this when walking, cycling etc. Pairs nicely via ANT to my android using my Workouts app. The HRM signal is very reliable.
Well most head units are Garmin and use ANT, and then Ive got a TACX Neo2 (which Garmin recently bought TACX) which uses Bluetooth with my Apple TV. So if you get this heart rate strap your pretty set as it work seamlessly with both the Garmin headunits ANT and Bluetooth as needed. Plus its comfortable and I like the strap.
I have three Garmin HRMs that do not work. Most recently, I bought the HRM-Dual last year, and it has quit working. Now I am dealing with Garmin on a warranty issue, which I would rather not have to do. I have switched to a Wahoo monitor and am quite satisfied at this point.
I use this heart monitor strap 3-4 times per week for 2 hour rides each time. This is a very comfortable strap and once adjusted for my chest stays in place. In fact, I never notice that I have this strap on.
I use this heart rate monitor (HRM) in combination with my Garmin bike computer and trainer (Zwift interface). It is comfortable on long rides. Definitely make sure to follow direction and wet the band prior to riding. This HRM was bought to replace my more expensive Garmin HRM PRO, which had a very short life span under my usage conditions (seal failed, electronics were subsequently corroded and quit working).
Very easy to set-up and use, paired immediately with my Garmin 820 head unit. Properly tensioned with the strap, stays perfectly in place for longer (3+ hrs.) rides. Sensor also snaps off and back on super-easy when washing or cleaning the strap. Haven't had long enough to speak for battery life, but should be a long time.
So in 4 years I'm now buying my 3rd strap. The first one lasted 3 years!, The 2nd one only lasted 13 months, and completely failed, New battery didn't work and the plastic screw holes deteriorated, to where the screws would no longer hold the cover. I might add that is how the 1st strap failed, the screw hole plastic deteriorated and would no longer hold the screws.
I've been using my Garmin watch for years to track heart rate but finally decided to try a dedicated monitor. It's way more accurate when compared to the watch and got used to the feeling after a couple rides. I don't even notice it anymore. After you pair it the first time it just works every time.
No longer do I have to record my heart rate data on separately on a wahoo app and then subsequently download it to Strava or struggle to with computability issues when using Zwift. This is simple and easy- no problems so far with Zwift or Strava. The savings in battery costs alone makes this a better choice than my prior Wahoo tckr. So far I am completely satisfied with this product.
This is a reliable HR monitor with long battery life.
I bought this to use with TrainerRoad. I only have a dumb trainer, so triangulating between my heart rate, my cadence, and my "speed" is an important element of getting an accurate FTP and workout. It connected to my iPad without me even having to set it up or search for it. Glad to have it aboard!
As indicated below, I'm a cycling enthusiast. I use it with both my road and hybrid bikes. I've been using Garmin products now for over a decade, and I plan to continue using them as long as I continue riding. I especially like the Connect software that displays additional data regarding every ride on my cell phone. Some of the Connect information is redundant, but most of it is not and it's useful to track training and improvement.
Gets the job done and lasts a long time for my use!
I had older monitors, but they weren't reliable, maybe the technology, maybe their age. This monitor has worked flawlessly and make me feel confident in it's numbers.
Very accurate
This is my wifes first chest strap HR monitor. It fits her well and gives her accurate legible HR data on her Garmin. She tried using her Apple Watch but it was too hard to read while riding, less accurate and couldnt be displayed on her Garmin.
Ordered this for my partner. It paired quickly with his Edge 520, but then would read HR pretty inconsistently the first few rides even after putting a little water on the strap. After 5+ rides, it works fine now. Kind of bizarre considering that I never had an issue with my older Garmin HR monitor.
We have been a Garmin family for years. I use my Dual HRM with a Garmin Edge for cycling. I purchased the Dual HRM for spin classes and noticed that every so often my heart rate was dropping out. A check of the HRM revealed that all four (4) screws had cracks around the plastic and was being held in place by the snaps and the strap.
I had a Wahoo HRM that I used for a few years but was not accurate or consistent. I would constantly have readings that were way off the chart. The Garmin just flat out works. It's dependable and comfortable to wear. I get consistent, accurate readings and never have to question what's going on. Highly recommend.
My last heart rate monitor (same unit) lasted a year possibly two, but not 3.5. And like all HRM's I've ever used this model does not allow you to replace the battery when it's depleted because it never works, which means you need to toss the whole unit every year or two and start again.
