I use the Craft Cool Mesh on my MTB rides and on long E-MTB rides (exploring remote areas). I love the barrier and the ventilation it provides. I now have 4 of these to prevent laundry becoming an everyday event.
PROs - great ventilation, doesn't stick to my skin, no odor problems, I use the white ones so they are always cool.
CONs - A bit pricey for what it is, the laundry tag is enormous
Mandatory for cooling riding in these hot temperatures!
I love this base layer. Haven't used it in the heat yet, but it's been in regular rotation for all but the coldest rides. Fit is good, if maybe on the big side. Size down if in doubt as it's very stretchy.
Yes, cooler, rides nice, buffer between jersey and body
I've been using it as a base layer for cold riding under a castelli convertible gabba jacket/jersey. It works great! I'm comfortable through out the ride. It wicks very well and feels dry at the end of the ride. I am going to try it in the summer under a jersey, but I'm reluctant to believe that any base layer can be cooling.
The baselayer is great, the mesh is nice, breathes well and stretchy but the size is huge. I am 5 6' and bought a small. It is super long and bunches under a jersey.
3 stars because of the size.
It's still too early to tell if this will fall apart over time. I plan on using it weekly as I did with my Pearl Izumi baselayer and so far it's lasted me 3 years with no issues. So I will compare it to my PI. It's very light, and comfy, keeps me cool in the Florida hot and humid weather. I don't feel sticky at the end of my rides and still able to not feel overheated. I bought a size medium, which I usually wear, but appears to be more loose. Maybe next time I'll order a small and see if it'll fit well. Anyway, like I said earlier my review might change over time since I'm going to compare it to my PI that I've been using for over 3 years and so far nothing wrong with it.
Used under jersey in all weather conditions. Keeps a layer of ventilation when it's hot out allowing cooler air layer between skin and jersey, jersey doesn't stick to the skin.
I had never worn base layers except in cold weather, but after seeing many pros wear mesh base layers in hot weather, I decided to give this a try.
I wish I had tried these a long time ago. Using one under bibshorts is much more comfortable - no more chafing from the straps, cooler in hot weather (as long as you're not wearing a tight black jersey), and warmer in cool weather.
I now own several of these and they've survived many dozens of washes with no adverse effects.
I'm 165 and 5'-10" and bought the medium. Perfect fit all around and very breathable. Works great under short sleeve jerseys on warmer days to stay cool, and under long sleeves for just a bit of extra warmth to take the chill off.
Only used for a few rides so far, but works great. I would do as others have posted here and go a size smaller than usual. I usually ride a XL standard fit jersey and a L Craft baselayer fits perfect.
I hate riding in the heat of summer because I often get too hot. This baselayer does help to keep things a little bit cooler in the sun, but just don't expect any miracles. It's not air conditioning, after all!
Runs large! Had to send back for a size down. Beautiful quality at a great price! Feel Pro and get one.
Cycling clothing is so expensive. I'm getting older now and wanted to get into base layer clothing. I was skeptical of this product due to the low price but was pleasantly surprised. Fit and quality are top notch and it works as advertised. satisfied customer.
This piece adds warmth to any jersey. Makes a climbers jersey too hot above 55F. I wear it under a long-sleeve thermal jersey at 40 for the extra insulation. I bought it for supposed wicking and cooling action, which is the opposite of what it does. So, from 40F to 55F, it makes a nice lightweight insulating layer. Warmer than that, leave it at home.
Im 510 and 190 and size medium fit perfect.
i wear this under my bibs when cycling , a five star product all the way
I hardly ever do casual rides, I get on the bike, warm up and crank. I have two craft mesh base layers and I swear by them. They keep me dry and comfortable by wicking my perspiration away from me. When I finish my rides I can't believe how wet my jerseys are when I take them off.
This baselayer does an amazing job in a) wicking away the perspiration and, b) providing great comfort on a long, sunny, hot day in the saddle!
Perfect for hot desert rides. Won't ride without the base layer.
