Bought the 400 S II on reviews from the web and haven't been disappointed at all.
Roll well and the ride is good also. I weigh over 200 pound and so far the tires are wearing well. No flats in about 800 miles. Will but again, great tires. Put on a set for a friend.
These tires are great. Just like my last contis. They have held up very well so far on the rough roads of Wisconsin. I've got about 300 miles on these and they barley show any wear. The only issue is the reflective tape on the sidewall is coming off in spots. It's not painted on, it's tape and I had hoped it would stay on longer.
This is my fourth favorite tire after Vittoria Open Corsa, Schwalbe Ultremo V-GuardOne, and Vredestein FTC's. I have ridden all the top end tires made to date, and feel they are all very nice tires with small diffences that set them apart. Continental as always has the longest wearing tread life of all of them, which would be nice, but as of yet I have never been able to see that life as the sidewalls always fail before I make it that far. The only other minor complaint(taken with a grain of salt) is that compared to the other tires listed conti 4000s series tires have a slightly stiffer ride, but not bad whatsoever. No tire is perfect but these are my experiences thus far.
Durable and easy rolling. Lots of miles don't seem to bother these tires. Not many flats either
Don't have too many miles on these yet, but they feel pretty grippy, and so far no cuts from over 100 miles of urban riding. I prefer these to the Rubino Pros I was riding previously, but take that with a grain of salt I'm not the most discerning rider.
They have the grip I want with the durability I need for commuting. I did have some flats after the first 1k miles but that was due to me not spending the time to dig out the glass they picked up which eventually made its way through to create holes. As long as you clean out one a week or so they give me the durability gator skins gave me with much better grip
Have had these for about 2 months. Tires have great grip and roll smooth. Combine that with the green side walls and these make my bike look great too.
Great tire, rides nice and wears good (for a high performance tire) . But this latest version is slightly bigger and does not fit my aero frame - last years model fit just fine so they must be made slightly larger for some reason? Otherwise nice tire....
I haven't ridden these tires long. They feel very stable and comfortable. It's important to note that these tires are 25s and my last set of Vittorias are 23s.
Great tire overall. Has excellent traction and good ride quality. Recommend.
These are great tires. I used to run Gatorskins. While Gatorskins are very puncture-resistant, they're not puncture-proof. Nonetheless, they're probably the best tire around for avoiding flats. I've also had pretty good luck with the GP's. Although they're not as tough as the Gatorskins (I've heard that they offer less sidewall protection), they've been a good tire for me. They're more expensive than the Gatorskins... and I feel that the weight savings is a good trade-off. I'm not a weight weenie, but you absolutely want to minimize your rotational mass - makes everything better.
This is the best Continental tire that I have ridden to date. The tire has extremely good grip and is very puncture resistant. I ride anywhere from 150 to 200 miles a week since I am a roadie and these tires work great.
I was riding US 87 shoulder out of Phoenix about a week ago - a rear flat from a wire that appeared to come from a shreaded truck tire burrowed through the rear tire. Never happened with 3x generations of Gatorskins I used on the bike. I like the feel of this tire, but not up to the same proofness as the Gatorskin cousin. I'd expect a large industrial staple, tack, or nail to get through any tire, but not a wire.
very stable down hill at speeds 40 miles per hour, cornered very well and rolled well also. I have used grand prix 4000 tries for 6 years now this new version is improvement on already excellent tire , conti all the way!
I use these tires on my Tri Bike for my last 70.3 with no trepidation. I'm glad I chose these tires with the color that matches my bike feeling confident that I not only was fit and ready for the event but also looked good doing it. Now they will be my training tires until they wear out and then order more for my next event.
Great tires. Fast and reliable. Not a single puncture in six months. They last 4k miles rear and 3x front.
This is a excellent traction tire and wears well. It was a little difficult to mount on the rim.
Love these tires. They are fast and puncture resistant enough for every day use. Prefer these to the 5000s for training.
Excellent tires
This is the second 4000 I have purchased for the rear of my Trek Madone 4.7. The first tire gave me 1,700 miles of service and no flats. The second purchase wore out at 1,000 miles and I had two flats with the tire. I like the performance and handling of the tire and that is why I bought the second one. I have since replaced the 4000 with a 5000 hoping for better mileage and puncture resistance from the 5000.
Hi,
Sorry to hear this tire didn't quite fit! Please get in touch with our customer service department at [email protected] if you'd like to arrange a return -- or maybe an exchange for 23's?
Thanks, Stacia
