Seems like a must for racing, looks great, costs too much but that's nothing new for bike equipment. Can't say anything about long term durability though because I've only put in a few hundred kms on them so far.
Continental is fabulous and Western's prices are the best, you cannot go wrong.
I've ridden them 325 miles with no problems. I don't know how the tire compares to the gp4000's on my other bike, it was aluminum with aluminum wheels. The new bike is CF with CF wheels. I can say they ride nice but get them on sale if you can.
These 32mm GP 5000 replaced 28 mm Gatorskins. I wanted 28s and they were out so decided to try the 32s since wide tires are all the rage. It may be my imagination but they seem heavier and slower. My times aren't much different but my ride feels more sluggish. I'm not upset with the tires but I'm not excited about them either. They were a good value.
I guess my reaction to these is tainted because I expected the 5000s to be the next improved version of the 4000's. Instead I found a totally different tire - not as tough, not as long lasting and not worth the price. And the worst part is I can't find the 4000s anywhere.
Easy to change and long lasting

Great tires. Have always run Continental tires on my road bike. Same wear but better feel than the old 4000s.
You know the script. GPs are great tires and the 5000 is the next iteration of this greatness. Shop around. Compare. Then get another set of GPs. They are a beast to get on the first time though...
Been riding Continental for a long time. They just seem to get better. Never get flats, and pair them with a latex tube and sing to you.
I had been using the GP 500 for the last 6-7 months and for the most part they were fine. Aside from all the marketing, they had decent puncture protection for about 4000 miles. I find Contis very hard to mount on my Mavic rims though so once the flats started coming (and they have been coming fast and furious) I've grown to hate them!
Have had these for about 6 weeks. They roll nicely and are lighter than my Michelin Power Endurance. Time will tell how long they last but so far so good. They seem to grip the road well on descents and through curves. I bought the 28mm and I like the feel of them although for some reason they dont look as wide as the Michelins
You will love these tires especially at this price.
I'm a former evangelist of the Conti 4000s; the last several times I've purchased the 5000s within about 500 miles (~2 weeks for me) I've had sidewall blowouts on these tires. Quality control has either completely decreased, or the tires themselves have manufacturing issues. I've since moved to the Vittoria Rubino Pro Speed G2.0s and have had ZERO flats in 1,800+ miles. Will be staying away from the 5000s for the foreseeable future.
Ive used GP5000s on my road bike as well as my wifes for a little over a year. Theyre my favorite road tire - nice smooth roll with plenty of speed and grip. Upgraded from Vittoria Rubinos and I would never go back (though I do hear great things about their Corsa tire).
Replaced older 4000 model and went from 25 to 28c. Rode is sublime and grip is as expected with new tires.
I use them for cycling. I like their durability and smooth ride.
I rode the Continental 4000 for a couple of years as my go to tire. So I was sceptical about the Continental GP 5000 but these even better. (Lite, great grip on the road with a fast smooth roll.)
Great tires that ride very smoothly and wear evenly. Absolute confidence when going through tight corners. I've found the GP's to ride a little better than the Schwalbe One's, which were my go-to tire for years. With disc brakes, I can ride the 32mm width versions which are phenomenal on all terrain and even a bit of dirt and gravel. I typically get at least 1500 miles on a set when I rotate F and R at around 750 miles (I weigh 205 lbs). Could probably get another 500 but the rear tire starts to square off a bit.
Was a big fan of the GP4000 and that hasn't changed with the GP5000. I put these tires through the ringer. Do as much climbing as can be done in New England and with a dash of dirt roads thrown in the Conti's have held up great. Not sure of mileage(around 5000 miles) but I had three separate spots that were worn to the cords and no flats! Comfortable, good grip and mileage with durability. This is my go to tire, with latex tubes.
