You really need to purchase a pair of these beauties and ride them to appreciate them. I use these for all rides as they are fast and they are also dependable. Tread life out performs all other tires that I have tried.
Solid tire, all I use.
I'm running the 25mm width tires, between 80 - 95 psi on 3 of my road bikes. My experience with the Conti Grand Prix 4000 SII has been excellent. Smooth ride, great grip, low rolling resistance and better than expected durability. I've had 2 puncture flats due to road debris in approximately 2000 miles. No pinch flats, no defects, etc. Tires are pretty easy to mount too. I've had the earlier version of this tire without the Black Chili and I do believe there is a noticeable difference with the Black Chili - more grip, lower resistance. Occasionally these go on sale, when they do, they are a great value. For reference I've run Conti hard shell gator backs - In my opinion the Grand Prix 4000S II are far superior. I also ride Vittoria Open Corsa and Open Pave - the Conti Grand Prix 4000S II are more durable , the grip seems about the same but the Vittoria are just a bit nicer ride. Hope that helps.
this is the one to get. best overall performance tire
A little hard to mount.
Excellent handling feel
Low rolling resistance
Love these tires
i have been using the GP4000S and SII for a number of years. I consistently get over 10K miles on a tire (new tire goes on front and when back wears out front goes to back and new tire on front). Tires ride great on varied asphalt surfaces.
Continental tyres are by far the best I have ridden on. This is an easy assessment - I have been riding for 50 years and have ridden over 500,000 miles...many miles on different tyre makes. No contest Continental Grand Prix 4000 (and 'All Season') have out performed all of the others. I ride on them, I race on them - it's proven to be the 'failsafe' choice for me. It's highly unlikely I will change.
Love these tires. Low rolling resistance. Good handling feel. So far (knock on wood) reliable - have about 1,000 miles on them. No punctures. No damage. Fast. Efficient. Worth the price.
For my racing (mostly long distance triathlon) I really like these tires because
-they're resistant to road hazards
-they're light weight
-they're comfortable to ride
-they're quick to change if needed
is very responsive tire.
rarely flat with it, resistant to punctures.
Has good road feel and not slippery in wet conditions.
I like that they're lightweight, handle well, and offer a high level of durability. The price is a little high for me, but you definitely can tell they're high quality. To save a little money, in the winter I switch to Michelins. They're a little more durable, IMO. Of course, the Continental Gatorskins have them all beat for durability, but the Grand Prix 4000 offer the best balance of performance and durability I've found. I highly recommend them.
These are my go-to road tires, both for everydaytraining and racing Road and TT (for crits I use Michelins they're stickier). Good traction, long-lasting, and pretty easy to seat in a rim compared to what they were just a couple of years ago (no way are my hands stronger than they were).
Occasionally there will be a questionable spot after X number of rides where something has left its mark in the tire, but I've had nothing that affects cornering, ride quality, or flatting-resistance. Almost everything, and again, there are few issues, is superficial and does not go through to the tube. These tires are not soft enough to have grit embedded after each ride like some others (Bontrager R3s, for instance), but are soft enough to not give a harsh ride.
Most of the bikes at races this year sport these tires, I noticed, including the guys that are faster than me (I looked at their tires trying to find any excuse I could use for not winning).
Good tire with good performance and puncture resistance.
This is my 2nd time purchasing the tires. Great service from Nate every time.
Wears very well. Handles good. Getting 2500 miles out of the set I have now with 1 rotation. If you rotate at 500-600 miles you can get more.
Road and bike trail riding with bicycle club.
Love these tires. I have them on 3 bikes and have never had problems. Great traction in the rain.
Basic road bike tube
These tires seem to last forever! I keep checking the wear indicators but they don't seem to wear. The only time I ever get flats is when they have already gone a couple thousand miles.
