This tire is durable. Rolls well and provides sense of security to the added stress of a tandem.
I ride anywhere between 30 to 50 miles three times a week. I average about 3000 miles a year. I am on my second set of Continental Grand Prix 4-Season tires and I am greatly satisfied with their endurance. You can go for miles and miles without any flats. These tires last forever, they're great. They are the best I have ever used.
I always use it on multi-day trips in the mountains in Europe. Holds well in the wet. I used it for a week in the Dolomites under various conditions and never had a flat . In fact, I've never had a flat while traveling with these tires. I used it on the Eroica in Italy-dirt roads, no flats. It descends as well as the Conti 4000. Also, long-lasting-easily over 3-4000 miles. Highly recommended.
The only FLAT-ulence you'll experience while riding with this tire is going to come from you or other cyclists. One of the most reliable tires available, from a cyclist who rides over 5K miles per year in the Northeast.
very good performance on rough roads 2000 miles on the tires and they are holding up well
We have ridden Gatorskins and tried the Hardshell for winter riding
This tires are more responsive than the Gatorskins and have held up great
We have done several 3 and 4 day events with no problems.
These are mounted on Rolf's wheels on. Tandem.
I'm not racing anymore (at age 66), but still put in regular road miles and want dependable, safe tires when I ride. I've been using Continental Grand Prix 4 Seasons for several years and have been completely satisfied with them. They are a little pricier than other tires, but for me the extra bucks are worth it.
The Continental Grand Prix 4-Seasons work well, but understand that they are a little softer than the Gatorskins, so they are more prone to being damaged by road debris. The ride quality is solid. They are more expensive than the Gatorskins, but are an overall solid tire that could be used for club racing and the like. The tires wear a little faster than Gatorskins, but they are more supple as well. If you are looking for a training and racing tire, this would do the job very well.
Great tire. All pupose and training. Feels like hand made like a good tubular. Easy to install, rides supple, corners great. Lasts and lasts in all kinds of weather and conditions. The only tire that is as good as this but lighter and faster is the Conti 4000 & 4000s.
Great tire - never a flat
I've only had these tires for a few months and I'm just a recreational rider, but I'm already sold on them. Winding descents are my favorite and these tires stick. I feel safe and comfortable pushing them at higher speeds. Often I've ridden through broken bottles and glass on the road without any problems. Although they cost a bit more than others in their class it's worth the expense. Skimping on tires is not the place. The jury still out on their longevity, but if they hold up, the Grand Prix 4 Season is the tire for me... Can't wait for winter.
I ride on a lot of dirt roads in VT and NH, roads with sharps rocks that I'm hitting at 30 mph. After about 1,000 miles, the tires are holding up well. Just one flat. No significant tire cuts or slashes.
On pavement, the tires have a soft feel and corner well.
I put these on my Tandem. Best tires have used. Good road feel Seem quite durable
Great tire and no flats!!
I've been using these tires for years and have always had very good results. I have them on my road bike as well as my girlfriends and I also have them on my tandem. They run great. I get great mileage and performance. I would highly recommend them.
This tire is great because it rarely flats, is tough, will last for a lot of miles (I weigh 170, and usually I get around 2000 miles out of them - that's when the main part is pretty flattened. Probably could get more miles, but then I just use them for the trainer after that). I always buy these tires - they are the best I've used yet! Rolling resistance seems good, and they do great in the wet! I ride these all year.
Used on a 200 mile ride with 35 miles of dirt roads. No flats. 28 mm tire runs a little narrower and used it easily on a trek madone
I have been using Conti GP's on our tandem for years. They have been a consistently good tire for traction and the later models have better longevity
i have been using this tire for daily rides for the last two months. I like the tire on the very rough roads in my area. I have switched my wife's bike to these tires also. The tires may be a bit more expensive but so far no problems and that is worth every penny.
Price and everything else is right!
Hard to install at first, but once it's there...WOW! Just WOW! Love them!!!
