for Ultra running, these are (1) easy to open on the run, (2) nicely portionedeasy to dispenseconsume wo stopping, & (3) tasty and super satisfying.

I usually purchase the citrus flavor, but when ordering, it wasn't available. So I tried the salted watermelon. It has become my go-to-favorite. Will order again.
For when you need a little pick me up, the flavor could be more robust tho, easy to carry and dispense out of package.
I once tried a sticky mess gel from another brand and Ciif blocks are the way to go.
Gatorade blocks are a pain to deal with while pedaling, you end up smashing them, they don't slide out of the package.

I really like the Clif Shot Blocks. They are easy to get out of my pocket and it is easy to calibrate how many
calories I use.
I don't like drink mix in my bottles , so I take a couple of these every half hour for the calories and electrolytes.
The flavors are good and I really like the orange, and the black cherry (extra caffeine ).
On hot days I use the margarita flavor for the extra salt.

Clif bloks are my favorite ride snack. Easy to eat, tasty, and a little boost of caffeine in some flavors. The cherry can taste a bit like cough syrup but that's okay. I highly chipmunking one at the start of a race.
Quick, light and easy to carry on the bike. I like the cherry with a bit of caffeine and also like that they come in smaller portions. They can stick to teeth but a bit of water after the fact helps.
Been using them for years. Work for me better than other brands I've tried.
I sweat a lot during rides and have a tendency to cramp, but the Shot Bloks really help me avoid cramping. I prefer the Shots with caffeine to give me that extra boost.

I enjoy chewing sometimes, instead of a gel. These fit in a cycling or hiking pocket better than some other chewy products.
These energy gels taste great and do a good job on long rides. I like the boost from the caffeine...especially on windy rides when I need more energy. Before my ride I open the sleeve and tuck in my jersey pocket for easy access. Overall I am pleased with this product...for both taste and performance.
Travels well in cold and hot temperatures. Keeps my legs from fading as much on the longer more demanding rides. Used in combination with Clif Shot Gels which are faster absorbing fuel.
My husband I and use these all the time for quick energy for tired legs. Easy to carry and eat without any mess.
No melted chocolate. No messy Gel. No hard package to open. Pop them easily wo having to eat the entire package. Don't need much liquid to chew.
AND BY THE WAY... they are tremendous for energy and resisting cramps. A near KOM after 70 miles in 101 heat. Now all I need is a decent drink mix.

Takes time to unwrap package, then chew. Tasty flavors. Works ok compared to Gu which I feel has faster absorption. Packaging is non sticky and easy to dispose of.
I usually take 2-3 chews just before getting on my bike and 2 more chews every 45 minutes or so of riding. Does a good job for the 2-3 hour rides. For longer rides, you should supplement with additional foods and water.
Have to say, I never tried 'bloks' before this year, but I am now sold on them.
I've only tried the salted watermelon flavor, which is tasty. The blocks easily come off in about half inch square pieces. You can either chew them, or allow them to melt in your mouth. They seem to have helped me reduce cramping on my longer rides/races.
