These hoods are a direct replacement for the original hoods that came with the Force22 brake set. Unfortunately, I think the right-hand hood is subject to routine splitting because the double-tap mechanism pushes against the rubber, stretching it, when shifting to lower gears with the rear derailleur; over time it wears out and splits. I've gone through several right-hand hoods with different bake sets over the years (both Red and Force) because of this.
Installation tips: heat the hoods with a hair dryer to make them more pliable and use a bit of gentle fast-drying lubricant (I used little bit of 96% alcohol) to make sliding them over the brakes easier.
Compared to the last model, these hoods wear out very quickly, especially on the right side. Numerous rear shifts cause the hood to split where the lever contacts the hood. I have gone through 5 pair of these hoods in 2016.
If you are like me, you have a tendency to rip the brake hoods when servicing SRAM Red hoods. These fit my Red 2012 shifters great. They are very expensive for just a piece of rubber, so we are all better off just being more careful!
