As I age (58) I have started to cramp regardless of my attention to detail. My success with other GU products led me to buy these capsules. Perfect! Heat nor amount of exertion have resulted in any cramping since I started adding these to my arsenal. I even took some after a night of drinking and they helped!
I did a 45 mile ride without taking these and my legs started cramping around mile 35, mostly due to my refusal to eat & drink enough no matter how many times it happens. The next day I went out again but remembered to bring some of these with me, about 12 miles into a 33 mile ride with constant wind in my face and countless hills my legs started to feel like they might start cramping again. The only thing I did differently than usual was take 2 of these pills and I did not cramp up, I did try to make an effort to eat and drink more but it wasn't that much more than I typically consume.
I use these for events where the is supplied via my camel pack. Putting sugary electrolyte mixes in the camel pack is a quick way to ruin a bladder. I can carry several of these in my kit and take in timed intervals to supplement my electrolytes. Worked like a champ for the Dirty Kanza!
Had serious problems with cramping during gravel races. Thought Id give these a try typically 2 tabs prior to start, then 1-2 tabs Q 1-4 hours depending temperature and exertion. Now Im standing on the podium. Not really, but at least Im not cramping.
