    Great Gravel or XC shoes

I was looking for a comfortable shoe for long gravel rides and XC MTB rides - particularly for the Texas summer heat. One that was stiff enough to be efficient but still walkable. A lightweight, breathable and narrow fitting shoe. I have narrow heels and needed a shoe that would wrap my heel securely to prevent slippage. I think this shoe is going to be great. The heat isn't here yet but I did take this shoe on a 101 mile gravel ride this past weekend. First ride out of the box and they were comfortable the entire time. I never thought about my shoes which is a good sign - no discomfort anywhere. I like how breathable the shoe is which I expect to be nice this summer. The double Boa is awesome. I can leave the toebox a little looser for comfort and snug up the back for good secure fit. Overall - I shopped around for a while looking for the right shoe and I found a good one.

Lightweight but not sure about durability

I've had these a couple of months now and really like the fit. I have a narrow foot and the BOA system is great. They are lightweight and breathe really well, making them great for long days during the summer. I am a bit concerned about long term durability as the toe guard is already starting to delaminate a bit. I have always worn SIDIs so I'm used to shoes that last. I decided to try these since they are lightweight, breathable and a better price point than the SIDIs. Time will tell how long they last but I'm not feeling very optimistic at this point.

    Good not great

Picked these shoes up for the start of cross season which has been cancelled due to covid. My current Fizik mtb shoes worked great but were a half size too big so i opted for something a little more comfortable.

    The good:

These shoes are VERY comfortable. i could wear them on a daily basis for long endurance rides. The two-boa system is nice to get that snug fit and make for easy adjustment on the fly.

    The bad:

They aren't the stiffest pair of shoes. For reference, i picked up the 2019 s-works shoes for the road. those are like ski boots perfectly molded to your foot and in a hyper-lightweight chasis. Comparing those s-works ($450 retail) to these Giro's you instantly notice these are not s-works shoes in the flex through the upper padding of the shoe. The sole still feels stiff and provides a good amount of power transfer.

I don't remember the specifics, but i believe these were about 30 grams lighter than the Fiziks i was replacing. A pretty negligible difference IMO.

The price is fair. You're not getting a top of the line shoe fit for pros that spare no expense in design or material, but you also aren't getting crap either. If i were borrowing these from a friend in a pinch i would be satisfied.

To conclude, if you are due for an upgrade and don't want to break the bank, these fit the bill. If you are looking to get an edge onto that elite podium, these MIGHT not be for you.

    Comfy, but not durable
    by Ben

I've been wearing these shoes for MTB and gravel. They are comfortable, breathable, easy to adjust and get the job done. In my second season with them, however, they are quite literally falling apart. The sole is trashed. Sure, I do some rough trails that require hiking from time to time, but these simply haven't kept up with demands. I hoped for more than 1 season with these, but will be replacing with a more durable and capable shoe.

    Great shoes
    by Brandon

I love these shoes. Wear them for gravel. They fit great and I have slightly wide feet. I wear a wide 41.5 in fizik and a 42.5 in this shoe and it is great. I think I would be ok in a 42 but I like room in the toe box. The fit is awesome, the Boas are fantastic and the shoes look great. Aren't bad to keep clean either.

I needed a pair of MTB/Gravel shoes that were lightweight and which also would accomodate my bunions. These work very well for me.

    Sizing same as Giro Cylinder

I previously road with a pair of size 46 Giro cylinders and wanted to upgrade to a stiffer sole. I purchased the same size in the Giro Sector and no issues with fit. The dual boa works well and I am happy with the breathability of the sector's lighter upper.
