I use this in combination with a helmet light with less brightness. It is very bright and the field of vision at night is strong enough for dark gravel trails or dark streets or even wooded trails. The battery life is okay on the highest setting, but you will have to recharge it every hour or 90 minutes if you have to use it on its highest setting.
I also have the Lezyne Micro Drive 800 Front Light, and that was not as good for the toughest, darkest situations, which is why I upgraded to the 1000+....
This is a great light, BUT...it doesn't come with a charging cord and finding one that fits has been difficult. The mounting strap is way too short and takes strong hands to get it on and off of the handlebar. Otherwise, I like that it lasts a long time and has different beam options. It is a bit heavier than other lights I have had, but then, I am heavier than I used to be, too.
Battery life is great, but requires a heavy battery. I prefer a more piercing, focused beam. Rubber strap to fasten to handle bars is too short, had to stretch it and use last hole. One other negative was the charger required was different than anything I had and it did not come with one.
