2009 Scott CR1 Team Carbon Road Bike

Scott CR1 Team Carbon Road Bike:
While the Scott Addict continues to be the flagship of the Scott Road line pushing the technological envelope, the trickle down effect has occurred with the CR1 series. The Scott CR1 Team is a complete carbon fiber bike built with the same technology as the ground-breaking CR1 frames ridden in the Tour de France for years. A killer steal at the price, built up with a full Shimano 105 groupset and durable training wheels, the CR1 Team is perfect for the athlete looking for top performance out of their bike while keeping some money in their pocket to get out there and race!
The Scott CR1 launched the Scott brand to popularity in the US back in 2003, breaking new ground with its 895 gram frameset. Scott broke away from the competition to create a new way of producing a carbon fiber frame introducing the CR1 process of carbon welding. Much like how steel and aluminum frames are made, the CR1 process has tubes that are individually hand wrapped and carbon butted allowing each tube to be strong and stiff where it needs to be but take away material where its not needed to create the lightest tube possible. The tubes are precisely cut and aligned before they are “carbon welded” together and then wrapped in carbon around the major junction points giving the frame a more monocoque look. It takes 26 hours for each frame to be assembled. The result is a frame weighing in at 895 grams!
The CR1 excels at not just giving you a light weight sporty ride but a great fit as well. The CR1 geometry is capable of fitting a wide range of people and their abilities.
The Ride: paired with the right wheelset, the CR1 can give the high performance ride of a Ferrari or the comfort of a Cadillac. The CR1 is a great choice for either your weekend rider, road racer, or your sprint triathlete using a pair of clip-on aerobars. You will first notice how lightweight the bike is as you are able to quickly accelerate away. A good suggestion is to take it to your favorite climb and watch how you are suddenly able to tackle your local Alpe de Huez climb with the grace of a Pantani. Well, maybe not like Pantani but you certainly feel like you can use a bigger gear and make climbing fun again!
